This short story actually made me laugh out loud. It has a very sly sense of humor to it and the dialogue between Evangaline (a witch) and Ryker (a were-panther) is great.

Evangaline is the "Wickedest Witch" and she has quite a reputation for being scary and no-nonsense. As Ryker finds out though, her reputation is a little undeserved because she only punishes those who REALLY deserve it (in some cases quite appropriately, for instance, she turns her ex into a rat for a day), she isn't afraid to use her powers.

Ryker is the alpha-male attitude and the first time he is introduced he is drunk off his ass in a bar, so he doesn't make the best first impression on Evangaline. Besides being hot, I mean come on!

They meet again when Rumpelstiltskin hires them both for a job. Evangaline isn't to keen on working with Ryker, but the pay is good, so she agrees. Upon leaving the business meeting, the glamour that she wears (taller, skinner chic) all the time wavers when Ryker touches her and Ryker is faced with the real appearance of Evangaline (shorter, plumper) that he has just happened to be having hot dreams about.

After starting to work together the can't deny the mutual attraction and Ryker realizes quite quickly she is his mate. Even when she is snapping at him and scaring people he just thinks she's cute and wants to cuddle her. Which was kinda just...adorable. :) It takes longer for him to convince Evangaline...but through snarky dialogue it eventually works out.
