I am finally done with this one!

I picked it up on the recommendation of this great article from Booklist: http://www.booklistonline.com/Product... .

I found the article fascinating. The writer had read Desario's book as a teen and was enamored of it. The book is now out-of-print, but as an adult, the writer decided to track the author down and find out why he hadn't written more books. The article is a fun look into the writing and publishing world, and the book sounded good.

However, I just lost track of the plotlines somewhere along the way. The Daykeeper, and the Quiche, and the prophecy, and Mago . . . none of it seemed to hang together for me.

The relationship between Buchanon, the washed-up baseball scout, and Matt, the tabloid reporter, was often very funny though. Their road trip searching for the refugees was the most enjoyable part of the book for me.

Overall, a decent book, but one that moved slowly and that I kept feeling I was missing something. For fans of South American legends and mysteries.
