Man, Miéville is really a creepy creepy guy. I really enjoyed this collection of short stories, though it sort of got grating after a little while reading story after story set in the same city (London). I mean, I understand that was sort of the point of the collection, but seeing more than one post-apocalyptic scenario played out in exactly the same location seemed a bit... redundant, even with the diversity in the stories.

Favorite stories:

"Reports of Certain Events In London" - the author winds up in possession of some curious documents not addressed to him, which contain tantalizing clues about a mysterious street in London which seems to only exist occasionally...

"Entry Taken From a Medical Encyclopaedia" - a short little ditty about a very peculiar disease that spreads verbally...

"Details" - surely we have all heard the saying that the devil is in the details. A young boy finds out just how true that saying is...

"An End to Hunger" - sure, philanthropy is great in theory, but what happens when one man runs afoul of a charity that will brook no opposition to its cause...?
