I was worried going into this book that it would be "too much" for me based on the premise. I guess I expected more graphic scenes. However, because it's told from the POV of a five-year-old boy, who is (for the most part) protected by his kidnapped mother, it's easier to digest. Given the Jaycee Dugard story, there is no doubt that the plot is plausible--though some of the action, I'm not so sure about it (I won't go into it to spoil it). The characters were well-developed, however I never "connected" with them. Something, intangible though it may be, was missing for me. There was a lot of dialogue, so it moved very quickly. I don't think I'm any wiser for reading it, but I also don't think that was the author's intent. It's solid go-to read if you want that "what happens next" experience.
