The plot seemed to drag. A who-done-it set in pre-World War I England. I liked the descriptive references to the English countryside. I could almost taste the clotted cream and scones with jam. . .That was one of my favorite parts of England. I can only find clotted cream in a local specialty store around Christmas. We do tend to 'eat' our way through the countries we travel.

Some of my favorite quotes from the book that rang true were:

-"No one is ever old enough to hurt alone."

-"Rather a heavy weight to carry--the garment of someone else's dreams."

-"Perhaps you can destroy people by refusing to see their reality, offering love only on your own terms, which is that they be what you need them to be--for yourself, not for them."

-"Perhaps he knew the words so well that he no longer heard them."
