This book appeared magically in my stack of to read books. I don't remember who gave it to me. Excellent murder mystery that takes place in and around a prison camp in Tibet. The protagonist is a former high ranking Chinese investigator who was sent to the prison without trial for getting too close to discovering corruption in a high level Minister in Beijing. He has been pulled from the labor gang to conduct an independent investigation. Lots of detail about Tibetan Buddhism and the destruction of the monasteries wrapped up in an excellent mystery. He has written sequels which I need to find.
