When I read the prequel My Soul To Lose I was so excited to read this series that I actually did a little squeal when I started to read this. But, let me tell you, this book is really good, but you can’t compare to the prequel, not at all.
As always I try to do my review without any spoilers, but some little secrets always escape trough the cracks. All I can say is that this will certainly not spoils the end; cose is really a great end. Really, really great. The whole book was saved by this ginormous, wonderstastic end.
I’ll stop babbling and get this review done now.
The Plot - Girl lost her mother, dad is nowhere to be found, lives with her uncle that loves her and is cute for his age (witch he doesn’t appear to have), with her aunt that has a obsession for youth, fitness and popularity and her cousin that is a pain in the but with her ballet body and stuck up nose. Wow, that was a long sentence, sorry about that. LoL Kaylee isweird special and when somebody is about to die she screams her head off. I really like this plot and was one of the reasons that made me want to read it. It’s original and it really made curious about it.
The Characters - This is when it gets complicated cose in the prequel Kaylee was this snarky and “talk back” girl but now she is just,,, not it.

I still think that she is cool and all. I found her suspicious thoughts about the motives that a certain hot guy has to come near her after years without even noticing her in school especially amusing. Nash is this hot pop guy that out of nowhere starts to talk to her in a club that she sneaks in to and looks like he’s got the hots for her, but all she think about is: why? The others characters appear along the story too and they have a little of a background but not nearly enough for me to care much about them. As I said before, the best part of this book is the second half and is then that the fun really begins, when the book ends. What a shock,,,,,not.

The Writing - I like her writing and the fact that she makes me feel and see what Kaylee does in a way that got my throat really hurting. I found myself having to listen to this book with a glass of water by my side. In the end of the book I looked around me and felt like I was that girl from the movie Signs from all the glasses I had. Yeap, put that together with that ending and that really got me scared. Creepy just doesn’t cover it.

The Audio Book Recording - I like this reader. She doesn’t force the guy’s voice and her tone is really pleasant on my years. I don’t feel sleepy and, overall, she does a pretty good job and making feel inside the story. I like it.
Considerations - Aside from the whole girls meets hot guy, the turning eyes that get really old, really fast and stuff from school, witch I don’t care much, this story is really good in a sense that plays with, well, death, in a way. If you could find a way to know when you will die, would you like to know? There is such a thing as good and evil when it comes to the grim reaper? If you knew that saving a life would cost another life, would you risk it to save someone you love? Who is to say who will live and who will die? There’s a price to everything and this applies to all things in life, not only life and death itself. I love that this author really gave me a run for the money on Kaylee's mystery. I honestly would never guessed what’s her secret and what all the screaming was about.
As this is the first book, is all about the what’s, how’s and who’s, but I have height expectations about this series.
I recommend this to anyone that wants something new to read and likes the company of a hot guy wile looking for the meaning of life. Yeap, pretty heavy stuff right here, LoL
