The Trial of Henry Kissinger
by Christopher Hitchens
by Christopher Hitchens
Forget trial, this is the prosecution and public flogging of Kissinger with no real defense offered. One thing that struck me is just how personal Hitchens takes this, which is indicated by the large amounts of adjectives and invectives he uses against Kissinger, then again if half of what is written here is true then we should all be as angry as Hitchens. Still, this is a very well researched and written book about some of the darkest chapters of US history. I was in Cambodia recently where people are still being maimed and killed by US landmines almost 4 decades later. One note, this book was written in 2001, its now 2009 and the trial of Henry Kissininger is no closer to becoming reality.
