----REVIEW----
Lucy Dervish just wants one thing: to find Shadow. The guy that spray paints on walls in the dark and the one she knows is the one. Recently out of high school, she reunites with her friends to celebrate the end of her senior year. And she has a quest to make that day the perfect one: find Shadow. But her plans may not go like she wants because now she has to go looking for Shadow with Ed and his friends. But they tell her that they know where to find him. This is the story of not seeing what’s in front of you, even though it’s been there all along.
Lucy just finished her senior year and with the company of her friends, Jazz and Daisy, she’s looking forward to the night. She decides that to make this night even more special, she has to find Shadow, a guy she knows nothing about but is sure that he’s the one she will love. Lucy is such an amazing character. She was entertaining and unique. She takes classes with Al, who teaches her how to blow glass and make art out of it. She loves her parents, who are weird in their own way, and her transportation relies on a bike, which make her look so much cooler.
Ed is this guy that had a class with Lucy back in high school and ended up quitting school, leaving her to do a paper all by herself. He also was on the receiving end of one of Lucy’s punches. Not that she’s aggressive, he just, well— let’s say he did something he didn’t have to do. He lives with his mom and is now without a job. He has a “bromance” with Leo, who’s his best friend. Ed and Leo are a duo that just click. You could feel how deep their friendship went.
The other characters— Lucy’s and Ed’s friends are so realistic and people you wish you could get out of the book and meet. And they are super included in the whole book. They just don’t appear or are named here or there and then disappear. No, they play a big role in the story.
The book is told from Lucy’s and Ed’s point of view, with a page of poetry from Shadow’s partner in crime, Poet, in between chapters. They both (Lucy and Ed) have such unique styles and their personalities come out of the book when you’re reading. I’m not kidding! This book was so cool to read! The whole time you’re reading, you’re thinking “What am I reading?! This is just too amazing!”
The plot of this book was like anything I’ve read before. It all takes place during a night and part of the other day. And what a night that was! I was totally sucked in. The pacing was perfect; nothing felt rushed. There wasn’t a single moment of boredom. The writing is so descriptive, especially when mentioning the art the characters were looking at or even when describing how the night looked; I was so impressed with Cath Crowley’s writing. You know when you read a book and you’re just in pure awe of what you’re reading? This was that kind of book.
I was yelling inside because of how good this book was and I even said I was “in love” with it even when I was just in the first pages! I can’t really go into much detail about the book because then it won’t have the same effect on you. You have to get this book! It deserves a spot on your bookshelf!
I love everything, EVERYTHING about this book. I love how art was a big, big part of the book and the poetry, too. And if you think this is just a love story, you’re mistaken. It has drama and secrets and lies and so many stuff that I don’t even know how the author was able to merge it all in only a day. But she pulled it off!
This is one of the best written and best books I’ve read, EVER. This is a book you’ll reread and highlight and love and that it’s worthy of rereading. I’m still in shock and it’s been months! This book will blow your mind!

Me too! My review will post closer to the publication date per the publisher's request via NetGalley.
I've written a "preview reivew" and did a teaser post too.
Yeah, I read about that (about posting closer to realease date) and my thoughts were, "but, but, but!" I don't know HOW to even start the review so... :)
Graffiti Moon is already published though. The US edition might now have come out yet but in aussie people can walk to the store & get it so I think the rules are a bit different for this one you know? It's not like whats inside is a secret and if somebody is really are dying to read it they will order the aussie one.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Hmm. I've read some reviews about this one and they were US blogs, if I'm not mistaken. I still haven't done the review, though. :|
If the review copy was from the US publisher, even if via NetGalley, then we must do as they request and not post until 2 weeks prior to the release date, which is what I have planned. The US publisher doesn't want people purchasing the AU edition, they want those sales for themselves. :) It's too hard to not say something about this book though, hence my preview review. :)
