I have never really understood them all that well. I get into the pictures and forget to read what is in the box. I will have to say I did not really like this book. I did like how at the end all of the stories did relate to one another. I do not think it was a bad book I just do not like books like this. I like how everything turned out happy at the end of the book. I always like a happy ending. <br/> <br/>Subjects, Themes, and Big Ideas: <br/>• Fitting in at school <br/>• Relationships <br/>• Different nationalities <br/>• Helping people out <br/> <br/>Characters: <br/>Part 1 Diety who turned into The Great Sage Equal of Heaven, Tze-yo-Tzuh who was kinda like a God, Wong Lai-Tsao who would feed the hungry and bandage their wounds <br/>Part 2 Jin Wang- who was the main character his family moved from San Francisco, his mom and dad, Herbalist’s wife, Peter Garbinsky- who was Jin’s first friend at Mayflower Elementary, Wei-Chen Sun- Jin’s new friend, Suzy Nakamura- Wei-chen’s girlfriend, and Amelia Harris- the girl that Jin likes <br/>Part 3 Danny, Chin-Kee Danny’s cousin who Danny was afraid would ruin things for him at school, Melanie-Danny’s friend <br/> <br/>Plot summary: There were three stories going on in this book and at the end they all three connected together. <br/> <br/>Part I <br/>Monkey King was mad that he didn’t get into a dinner party. He ended up beating the boy up who did not let him in. The boy told him that he did not have any shoes on. Monkey King was so embarrassed. <br/> When Monkey King returned he ordered that all monkey’s need to wear shoes. Monkey spent forty days trying to achieve the four major disciplines of invulnerability. After he achieved the twelve major disciplines he wanted to be called The Great Sage of Equal of Heaven. The Great Sage of Equal of Heaven ran into Tze-yo-Tzuh who was the God that created him. Tze-yo-tzuh piled a lot of rocks on top of him and told him to not exercise Kung-Fu. <br/> Wong Lai-Tsao fed the hungry and would bandage their wounds. He was then chosen for a mission. He then came along Monkey King and asked for his help. Monkey King did not want to help but finally gave in and saved him. <br/>Part 2 <br/> Jin Wang and his family moved from San Francisco. Kids at school made fun of him because he was Chinese. Jin made his first friend Peter. Peter never did come back after break. The next new one to school was Wei-Chen Sun who suddenly became Jin’s new friend. <br/> Jin started to fall in love with Amelia. He would brake things when she would come near him. He told his friend Wei-Chen that he liked her. Soon after that Wei-Chen started dating Suzy Nakamura. Wei-Chen and Amelia both stayed after one day from school to feed the pets. They ended getting locking in the closet. Jin came in and saved them not know Wei-Chen told Amelia everything. Jin asked Amelia to hand out with him and she said yes. <br/> Jin and Amelia went to the movies. While he was there he noticed his underarms smelt. He went and put soap on them and the soap got on Amelia’s shoulder when he put his arm around her. Jin was so worried she had noticed the bubbles. Wei-Chen asked her and she seemed fine and that she did not notice anything. That afternoon Jin and Suzy were waiting on Wei-Chen to get out of his math circles. Jin somehow just leaned over and kissed Suzy. Wei-Chen and he were no longer friends. He woke up as Danny. <br/>Part 3 <br/> Things were going good for Danny at school. He had to move to so many new schools because of his cousin Chin-Kee. Danny got detention for coming to school late again. He would get to school late so no one would see Chin-kee. Chin-kee peed in someone’s coke at lunch. Danny tried to confront Melanie about that night Chin-kee ruined with them. She said that he did not ruin anything for her. She wanted to tell Danny something else that had nothing to do with Chin-kee. She wanted to tell him about his buck teeth. Steve told Danny that this school was different and no one would make fun of him and Chin-kee. <br/> Danny had enough with Chin-kee and he hit him. Chin-kee started to fight back with Danny. Chin-kee revealed himself and he was Monkey King. Danny’s friend Wei-Chen is Monkey King’s son. When Wei-chin stopped seeing Monkey King his father Monkey King started to see Danny. Jin went and meet up with Wei-Chin and they became friends again. <br/> <br/>Strengths (including reviews and awards): <br/>• Michael L.
