The most stunning one is still the very first book, "A Child Called It". I couldn't imagine one could actually do all those evil things to another human being, not to say her own son. "The Lost Boy" is terrifying as the further it goes, the more you're afraid that the boy will really get lost. It didn't bring me as much relief as I expected when I was reading this very last one, "A Man Named Dave". The lost of faith, the failed marriage and the setbacks in Dave's adulthood are just way too much to bear. It's not a bit dramatic but true. I'm sure that back then, like the author says, things were very different and people couldn't do much about it.

I'm touched by his determination, struggle and most unbelievable of all, his kind heart to forgive his terrible mother.
