Wow – I was bowled over by Mr. Montano’s formidable imagination! His writing is intricately descriptive, painting a post-apocalyptic world that is so evil and dark, it would, by comparison, make a zombie apocalypse seem like Disneyland. Yes, this book has zombies too, but it’s ruled by putrid, decaying vampires, and its pages are flanked by hordes of other nightmarish creatures. Here’s a warning: once the aptly-named character, Cross, sets out on his mission, prepare to get swept up into a cold vortex of gritty action—which won’t wane or release you until the explosive conclusion. Be sure to have plenty of snacks nearby and prepare for a late night—it’s near impossible to put this book down.
