Sara Foster's Southern Kitchen

I am just not feeling this one. For one thing, the author acts like her sister-in-law invented hot Parker House rolls with ham and mustard. Also, there's a beautiful photo of three bean salad that's full of unstrung beans, when the recipe clearly says to act normal and string them. It's not inventive like the Lee Bros, it's not down and dirty like Paula Deen and it's really no more exciting than one of those yearly Southern Living collections.

I'm with you! The photos are pretty, but aren't of the food cooked with the recipes in the book. The one recipe I tried did not turn out well, although to be fair it looked very good in text. I'm a fan of the previous decade's Southern Living collections, and have a shelf of Lee Brothers, Deen and Nathalie Dupree books that result in GOOD food. Wish I'd read your review first!
