Ken Follett weaves a great story in this historic piece. His characterizations are clear and compelling and his descriptions of the time period fed my imagination.

The movie version of this novel did not give it justice. It was very compelling read with clear villians, who seem invulnerable as well as heroes and heroines that were unstoppable in the quest to achieve their dreams.

The ultimate revelations in the closing chapters however seemed rushed, compared to the painstaking detail of all of the other chapters. It was almost as if the publisher was calling Follet everyday asking him when he would finish. To meet deadlines, it appeared that the last chapters were rushed. The solutions were logical but rushed.

It all closed out too fast.

Or, it could have been that I wanted the read to last just a bit longer.

It was a grea read. I recommend it to all of my friends
