I remember really enjoying this series when I was 13 or 14... I don't remember much about it now, especially beyond the first book. I'll reread it soon since I just bought the series and write a better review at that point.

***Okay, I reread it! It was almost as enjoyable at 22 as it was the first time, though a younger person would certainly enjoy it more. The ending might have been a little rushed, but that might be just because the climax is at the end of the book....? I don't know. Being older and more jaded now, I almost dislike stories that wrap up so neatly with everything fixed. I mean, why would I want to read the next book? Darian's fine. They won and he's been accepted by birds and humans alike. I guess the me of old was curious about what kind of magic might manifest in Darian. I really don't know and the rest of the series remains pleasantly fogged in nostalgia for me. But I'll get to it.
