it was amazing

Fisk is a talented writer and story-teller, which makes this almost 1300 page book an amazing read. His experiences and recollections of those, while consistently asking the right questions ("why") and placing these experiences in the right contexts, make these one of the most educational and spot-on writings on modern middle east history. If only more journalists had his courage, resolve and passion for truth. The appendix also offers a great reading list to continue expanding on one's knowledge of the region's history, culture and reality.
