I strongly recommend reading a few of the series that directly preceed this one. I have read the first 3 or 4, then #10, then this one and I found myself slightly confused at who certain people are and what their stories were. Most importantly the new 'big bad' and 'no-fanger'. It was 3/4ths into the book before I learned both who and what it was. The mystery that is in the background for the entire novel make you want to keep reading and, while it is not solved in this novel, it is solved in the next one. I was a little frustrated at the fact that, throughout the books readers have been told that the enforcers of the council are warriors trained to hunt Immortals. This novel makes them seem like bumbling oafs. I know it was to make the main character look better when he is saving the girl but I thought it was incredibly OOC and distracted me away from the 'danger' of the story.
