Now that I've read both the initial trilogy and now this 4-book series, I can say that I personally enjoyed the initial trilogy more. However, this was still fun to read. I really enjoyed the first three books in this second set, but the final story just seemed to kinda drag, and then wrap up very quickly. Sure, it tied up the loose ends and whatnot, but it just seemed too predictable. The story about Walker trying to bring back Paranor and the book about Wren going to find the Elves were both great, but the stories revolving around the Ohmsfords just felt like a constant internal struggle that began to bore me. I still had to know what happened in the end, and so I finished it.

Overall, this is a very enjoyable 4-books-in-one giant tome, even if the ending wasn't quite up to snuff at least for me. At the end of some of Terry Brooks' stories, I'm like, "wow!" However, this time it was just kinda worth a "hm, well alrighty then," and setting it back up on the shelf. It was just due to the tedium of the characters' constantly rehashed internal struggle in the 4th book...

Anyway, I'm rambling. This is the worst review I've written thus far, I'm sure! Read all of Brooks' work. :)
