Rachel is a very good writer. Evolving in Monkey Town was a joy to read.

The title kind of give way to the story contained within. It is the story of Rachel's beginnings in fundamentalist Christianity where she excelled. She was handed and readily received a packaged faith. Part of this faith was to learn how to defend it and to answer all questions that might attack it. However, she began to see God as larger than the little package she had been handed. And the questions and attacks a life of growing up in Christian schools prepared her to address never came. No one ever asked the questions she was told she would be asked by non-Christians.

This is a story of questioning, and beginning a journey of inquiry, of challenging her faith (something we all should do) which is strengthening it.
