really liked it

Book 3 in this epic series (and it truly is epic at over 1,000 pages per book!) introduces some new voices (interesting!) and sees the silencing of others (sob). The plot is moved along well, with some fascinating and heartbreaking new twists and turns. Beware of any one character you have become attached to: Martin tortures, kills and maims with abandon. No one is safe.

Magic also becomes a much stronger element, and while it's not always fully explained, there is some background given. I would love to learn more about it in later books, maybe when it makes sense and wouldn't be some info dump.

I would say this is the strongest book of the series thus far. As a reader, you're familiar with the world and have invested time and energy into liking or disliking certain characters, so when Martin pulls out all the stops in this book, things just FLY.
