Honestly, I am always surprised at how much more dark and creepy Waters' books are compared to what I think they're going to be like. The second book in the series follows the aftermath of a tragic shooting that leaves a prized football player in an undead state, trying to regain a sense of himself. His best friend, Phoebe, the girl he sacrificed himself for, is trying desperately to help him, though she is never quite sure if it is out of love or guilt... Meanwhile, there is a plot underhand by certain members of the living to see the undead destroyed and to make a war between the two states of living... I found this book as equally as enjoyable as the first, which I managed to gobble up in almost one sitting before going in on a night shift. Definitely worth reading to continue on with Waters' series!
