I of course judged this book by its cover. Once I started it, i could not put it down. It starts out with the name character Cora saying "Somewhere else, life has been beautiful and vivid and rich. Not like this muted palette -- a pale blue bedroom, washed out sunny sky, dull green yellow brown of the fields. Here, I know every twist of every road, every blade of grass, every face in this town, and I am suffocating." and while she is thinking this, she decides to paint a pictorial map of the road that her brother was killed on.

This shows us that even if a family loses a loved one, they break apart beginning their own little world where everything is perfect, but really inside, they are still remembering everything that the lost one has been through. All the memories flow through even the bad ones, the painful ones.

It also shows that families can become a family again, even though there is still a void there, the bond between families can be rebuilt. and that there are people who can bring the family back together just like Damien did with Cora and her family. This book to tingled my heart.

I recommend it to someone who is looking for a book that touches the heart with the truth and the pain of losing a loved one while also pulling at the right heart strings!
