Although I grew weary of the penis and fart jokes, and the grandfather's comments about masturbation made me squeamish about passing this book to any of my sixth grade students, I appreciate what Sitomer was trying to do here. The book wasn't written for me, and I imagine teenage boys will love it.

Edward Sullivan Yes, the jokes grated on me, too, after a while and the grandfather is totally over the top but you're right that it's not written for adults. The audience it is for will love it.

Ms. Yingling My problem is not about the appropriateness of the book, but of the appropriateness of me handing this to students. Think I'll leave it for the public library.

Edward Sullivan If you don't have a problem with the appropriateness of the book, I don't see your problem with recommending it. If you can't bring yourself to recommend it, don't. Let the kids find it for themselves.
