Recommended for: people who believe in coincidences and don't own water bottles

I know Milan Kundera is supposed to be wonderful, inspirational, telling your life story back to you in your own words but better than you could ever phrase it... but I found this book at least (I have not yet read other Kundera) slightly pretentious and not particularly convincing, especially when the "coincidences" began. Nor did I warm to the characters.

What's more, when I one day soon after my interactions with Kundera precariously leaned out the window while drinking from a bottle of water and considered tipping it, just a little bit, just to see what would happen, I began thinking that if so much as a drop fell on anyone, it would inevitably lead to disaster (the person would trip, fall, break a leg, not make it to the bedside of their beloved, and the world would go to Merde with a capital M).

I personally, cannot go through life thinking this way.

But if you like his stuff, enjoy:)
