I’m sure we’ve all gotten texts from unknown numbers, and E-mails from unknown addresses but never quite like ex- best friends; Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Spencer Hastings or Emily Fields. In Sara Shepard’s Flawless, book two of the “Pretty Little Liars” series, the torture continues. Four girls in Rosewood Pennsylvania are being blackmailed by somebody who goes by “A”, At first they thought A was their best friend Ali who went missing three years ago, until her body is found. In this book, Spencer tells the rest of her friends the secret that could have gotten all of them in serious trouble. When they were in seventh grade, Ali had set off a firework that went straight into a tree house and blinded the girl across the street named Jenna; they thought nobody had seen Ali light the firework. Until Jenna’s brother Toby told Ali that he had seen what she did, and was going to tell the police. Then, they started to believe that Toby could be A, when Toby’s body is found in the woods, the girls start to feel relief, until they all receive another text message from A. The dead can’t send messages, can they?
I personally thought that this book was great and, I’m glad I read it. It made an impact on me because I wondered if there were really people out there who would blackmail somebody like that. I loved it because it made me think about myself, and my group of friends, how would we react if something like this happened to us? I would recommend this book to people who like reading other people’s life stories. This book is part of a series, and I can’t wait to read the next one!
