The writing was engaging, with interesting characters (younger Anne especially)and beautiful scenery. However, the content was very poor. The book contained merely nominal Christianity. There was so little awareness of human depravity, the gospel, life lived to God's glory.... Actually, I seem to recall total depravity being indirectly denied. In short, the work was like much of what masquerades for Christianity across much of the world, which essentially is closer to the American Dream than the gospel of the glory of God.
