This was an incredible book. The second best book I've read this year after "John Adams." The story was gripping and unbelievable. I couldn't put it down. My new hero is Sir Ernest Shackleton; what an amazing story. It is unreal to imagine what he and his men went through, and through the journals they kept and the fine writing of Alfred Lansing, it comes to life. I'll end with a quote from Shackleton...

"Optimism is true moral courage."
