This is a great book for shaking up your perceptions of how the world works. The author is very libertarian, in that he believes regulation and government just get in the way. I'm a little left leaning so, I don't agree with all of the conclusions and feel that there is a role for government and regulation in specific circumstances. However, I am now more skeptical of conventional wisdom. Much of conventional wisdom appears to be based on anecdotes without proper context. Since that was the author's aim, consider it mission accomplished.
