Wrath is the only pure blood vampire left. His family is gone, murdered by the society of Lessers that are the vampires mortal enemies. He has denied his royal heritage and lead the Brotherhood in defense of their race.

He becomes responsible for Beth just before her transition to becoming a vampire. He teaches her the ins and outs of vampire society, she shows him there is another side to him besides the killer that has been seeking vengeance.

Ward changes some vampire lore. I'm always interested to see a writer's take on lore..what they keep and what they leave behind. I read this book on the recommendation of a friend and was ready to be a little hard on this book as it obviously appears to be a bit more on the paranormal romance side of the urban fantasy that I've been reading lately. The romance aspects weren't too distracting. It was a bit predictable but the plot was interesting enough to keep me reading. Easy read and fluffy enough that I could breeze through it fast.
