really liked it
Read from September 16 to October 03, 2011

Hood read, but too open-ended. Glad to see the third in this trilogy supposedly fills in a bit more.

Devorah Did you miss this one in 6th grade?

Michael Neiman yeah, we never read it!

Mirra Such a good book at any age!

Heidi Sorry, late to the game on this comment thread (I rarely do Goodreads or whatever this thing is called). Anyway, I've loved this book since I read it in 5th grade (surprised you didn't have to!), and I didn't even know there were two books after this one until about two months ago. I read the other two books and frankly, I think The Giver is better off as just one book. Some of the intrigue was lost with the other two books. I liked how open-ended it was - did he die at the end, or did he really make it? Anyway, just wanted to give my two cents' worth.

Michael Neiman Now there is a 4th book and an upcoming movie! I think I liked the 3rd the best, but they are all so fun.
