bookshelves: keeper, bought-new, chick-lit

I don't like chick lit. But I do love cake. So I debated with myself over buying this. Chick lit? Cake? Chick lit? Cake? My love won over my un-love, as I suspected it might. What I hadn't suspected was my capacity for self-torture, to which reading this while trying to lose weight is tantamount.

Austin reminded me of a tousle-headed cutie I used to work with in a bank whose name was, confusingly, Graeme. He had a nasty ambitious streak though, so he's probably turned into a bit of a 'Graeme' anyway. And on the subject of Graeme, I do wish Colgan hadn't played quite so heavily on the 'bastard boyfriend' plot, a pet hate of mine. I know it was necessary for the denouement but it just made me respect and like Issy that little bit less, which is a shame.

Still, a wonderful calorie-free binge. Just pray that you don't have any self-raising flour in the cupboard...
