If you're expecting a typical romantic comedy with this book, look elsewhere. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the ending, mainly due to the fact that we the readers never really get to know the male protagonist in an unbiased light, only through the heroine's eyes, and therefore his 'unexpected act' does not come off as shocking as it should be. I also had a hard time cheering for the heroine and her concluding decision since the entire story was spent building up her pursuit and past worship of her love interest only for her to make a choice that clearly calls for a cheap ""you go, girl!"" cry from the reader. It also seemed odd how the story ended right there, with no indication of what the heroine's future will be. If we're supposed to care about her so much, why just leave her fate hanging in the balance? Also, some of the plot points mentioned on the book's dust jacket never really directly materialize; instead, there are brief glimpses by way of the flashbacks scattered throughout the book. If you want some light fun chick lit, avoid Dedication and read something by Meg Cabot or Lauren Weisberger.
