I really loved this book. It's a fast, fun read, and it's not really like anything I've read before. Very fresh and hilarious, but also poignant in a very straightforward, non-sappy way. Lopez really takes what is often a kind of stereotypically brassy, sassy, tough character and makes her really interesting, likable, and totally not obnoxious at all. And I think that's really part of her magic: this book does all kinds of things that other books try to do, in terms of being quirky and knowing and funny, but it does it without any smarmy obnoxiousness, and it allows the main character to be genuinely vulnerable. Plus, it's full of fantastic and original one-liners. I want to get like every chapter title tattooed on me, or at least work them into my regimen of slangy phrases.
