"'If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face -- for ever'"
and "power for the sake of power" are the few things that are imprinted in my brain after finishing "1984". It's a must-read book. I don't really like the dystopian books, because they leave me scared and worried for the human kind and I always remember what Joseph Conrad said:

The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary: men alone are quite capable of every wickedness.

"1984" is marked by hopelessness, but we all need to read it. In this line of thought - in order to know that 1984 is over, we should have a past - frightening and deprived of illusions, but objective and insusceptible. Past that can make now a reality.

I think I will read this book again when I'm older and maybe I shall try it in English.
