Elizabeth Gilbert does a great job weaving the idealism and reality of Eustace Conway, whose life in nature makes up a compelling biography. It is interesting to watch -- in this third person account -- the cycles of a family repeat for a third generation despite Eustace's attempts to break away and seek solace away from modern society. Gilbert's impressions remain bold, fresh, fair, peppered with humor and relevant to any man living in America today.
