Hollywood in its hayday at the very end of WWII. Ben comes home to find that his brother Danny has died. Ben is in the army working on newsreels and documentaries. Ben interacts with the immigrant community of Hollywood and finds himself sucked into the beginnings of the communist witch hunt. The detail of this book is dense and interesting. Not one of my favorite Joseph Kanon books as it lacked a little of his usual intensity.
