This voyage took place in 1976-77 and Severin's book was published in 1978 and, somehow, I missed both events back then. It's a fascinating account of intrepid sailors re-creating St. Brendan's voyage from Ireland to the "New World" long before Norsemen accomplished the feat; they did so in a fragile craft made of leather, just as Brendan's vessel was.

For armchair sailors or history buffs, this "Irish KonTiki" is a great read.
