It took me over a year and a half to slog my way through this thing. There are some good parts, but *man*, what an attack of typewriter diarrhea.

Here's a fun exercise: Write your own version of Gravity's Rainbow:

1) Write a straight-forward story about V-2 rockets. Print it out.

2) On blank pieces of paper, write out every depraved sex act you can think of.

3) On blank pieces of paper, write out a whole bunch of oblique references to other literature.

4) On blank pieces of paper, write out all those leftover writer ideas. You know, like that dream you wrote down about Kamikaze pilots or that strange drunken short story about an immortal light bulb.

5) Throw piles 1-4 into the air. Mix them up.

6) Repeat step 5 several times.

7) Turn into publisher.

Congratulations, you have now written your own Gravity's Rainbow.
