The Metamorphosis: A Graphic Novel
by Peter Kuper, Franz Kafka

This grew on me. The last time I read Kafka's story, I was a teenager. I thought it was gross and sad, and I felt bad for the main character, but it didn't make much of an impression on me other than that.
I've grown up a fair bit in the last 20 years, so maybe the story means more to me now. But Peter Kuper's art is also very effective. It took a few pages to grow on me, but the story affected me more deeply than it ever had before, and I will admit it, I lost it and cried when I got to the end. It's a bitterly sad story, and Kuper communicates it elegantly and without fuss. I recommend the heck out of this book.
