This takes place during WWI but wasn't written until 2007 when the author was 93 years old! The author does a beautiful job of describing his family's life in the 19teens in a very poor London neighborhood. His street was completely divided in half - on one side lived the Christians and on the other side lived the Jews. His Jewish sister's developing relationship with their Christian neighbor was both forbidden and inevitable. A story of courage and love.
