it was amazing

It's quite a sobering look at situations like Darfur, the 2004 tsunami and the bombing of the UN compound in Baghdad and made me wonder how the author managed to go on through it all. The gamut of humanity from the incredibly venal to the bureaucrats in sinecures to noble guerrillas to optimistic diplomats working against the tide -- they're all here. Recommended.
