Echols is a magician when it comes to crafting relationships and weaving in a dose of tension that sets you on edge just waiting for the two main characters to finally get together. She builds suspense by telling you bits of the story at a time, slowly revealing tidbits of information.

In Forget You, it was incredibly interesting to read how Zoey had lost a bit of her memory; she had to be sneaky about how she fished for information because she didn't want to be found out. Echols was able to feed parts of the memory loss bit by bit. I was guessing the entire time what really happened. There were certainly some things I did figure out, but that's not due to my intelligence. Echols threw in a great dose of foreshadowing, but also an interesting twist I didn't see coming at all.

My biggest frustration was (bit of a spoiler here) that Zoey slept with Brandon and *immediately* thought he was her boyfriend. There was no conversation to set their relationship boundaries. They were not previously dating. Zoey knew he had been thinking about sleeping with another girl or two before she led him away. The delusion that she was under the whole book about dating Brandon was so irritating. My feelings toward her were also affected by how much I adored Doug. I wanted her to finally remember what happened to her or find someone who would be completely honest with her.

This book deals in a very big way with sex. I don't think I've read anything else in YA that was so in your face about the topic. I'm kind of at a loss for words for how I feel about it.

I probably enjoyed Love Story more than Forget You, but much of that is because I couldn't stand the love triangle in FY.
