I loved this, for all the same reasons I love the other books in the series. Somehow Grant manages to make a story that is incredibly dark, twisted and morbid seem... optimistic? That seems the wrong word, but either way, I don't close these books feeling depressed despite the questionably moralled characters and creepy crawlies that infest their world. I found a new favourite character in Sanjit, and Toto was another cool addition (he made me laugh). Mostly I just want to commend the author on managing to write so many interesting, diverse and distinct characters into one story. All of them are a personality unto themselves, I don't see him falling back on archetypes or cardboard stand-ins. Every character stands on their own and can be their own hero, anti-hero or villain in their own way. I'm never entirely sure what's going to happen and the story keeps me on my toes. I will definitely see this series through until the end.
