I seem to have trouble making up my mind when it comes to this author. I like his novels but I am not overwhelmed. They are well written and I can see how people are drawn to the characters. The stories seem to plod on for me a little bit and I can't figure out why. This story starts out with a lawyer in somewhat of a downward spiral at his firm. Mack Malloy finds himself assigned to find a friend and fellow missing attorney Bert Kamin. Who the partners think ran off with a settlement fund from air disaster civil suit. For Mack there are a lot of pitfalls as he steps into one minefield after another. Do the partners really want Bert found and for what reasons that Mack has not been told. Is the one female lawyer Brushy someone he can really trust? His friend Bert what is really mixed up in when Mack learns that the mob is also after Bert. I liked this book more than the others.
