It seems like Gabriel Allon might finally be on the verge of retirement. In my mind, this may not be an entirely bad thing since I seem to having trouble maintaining interest in series after the sixth or seventh installment. Please don't imply from that that Portrait of a Spy is anything other than another well-crafted and enjoyable work from Mr. Silva. The story keeps you turning pages and is extraordinarily current. Mr. Silva is a talented writer and if Allon is denied his well deserved retirement I will continue reading the series but I think I would also be intrigued by a new Silva character.

Cycledoc Agree. Plotting was not particularly believable. Hews blindly to the Israeli line--there is another side to the story.
