This review includes a small spoiler--but only for the first couple chapters.
I’ve always meant to read this since it’s an award winning YA dystopia novel. I wasn’t disappointed after finally getting to it. It reads well and gives food for thought. I really liked how the book portrayed the moral development of the main character, who is a clone. The book is an easy choice for junior high kids because there is no language or sex, but it’s edgy enough to keep a reluctant reader’s interest. However, if I may quibble—I thought the plot structure was slightly lacking. The climax just didn’t feel very climactic to me and the end felt abrupt. There were lots of small climaxes along the way, but not really one overall, which I would expect from this type of novel.
