The kids absolutely loved this movie, so we were all excited to read the book. One of the most striking differences between the book and movie was that the character of Wybie does not exist in the book. Instead, the characters of Coraline's parents were much more rounded-out, and honestly, more likable. The descriptions of the world created by the Other Mother are intense and creepy, but not at all unenjoyable for even my smallest children, while Coraline's bravery and ingenuity was definitely inspiring.
