Read from July 27 to 31, 2011

The book takes place in 1996. The internet is new and almost half of all teenagers have never used it. Emma receives a computer as a gift from her dad. Her best friend, Josh, gives her an AOL Online CD-ROM with 200 free hours. She installs the CD-ROM. When they are logged onto AOL, they discover a site called Facebook. At first they think it is a joke or science experiment, but then realize they are actually seeing themselves 15 years in to the future. They also discover that everything they do in their current lives changes their future.
At ALA last month, I attended their yearly Author’s Coffee Klatch. The authors of The Future of Us sat at our table for the five minutes and introduced us to this awesome YA book! They talked about writing the book. The movie rights have already been bought. After the Coffee Klatch, they were signing books and gave away advanced reading copies of The Future of Us. I am so glad I did not have to wait until November to read it.
