This book had good action, intriguing characters, and ultimately ended well, and that's why I decided to round up to a "3". Enjoyable, but not great. My biggest problem with it were merely the first 30ish pages, in which our protagonist, Colt, learns about a secret organization that stops evil aliens from invading, and tries out for this organization. I loved this opening, and for that reason, it needed to be cut. First, they wipe his memory, meaning that he then spends 150 or so pages re-learning what we, the audience, already know from the opening. This is a little frustrating. Second, the opening made me think he was going to spend the book in super-cool training, but instead just goes back to regular high-school life. In the end, I found that it appears this book was a setup for the next, and I decided that the issues they raised but didn't answer were more intriguing than annoying, so overall not too bad a book.
