This was a nice read, well-written, a pleasant cast of characters, each with their own quirk, but it's pretty lightweight in spite of its potentially heavy emotional load (a woman whose first husband died suddenly is just as suddenly abandoned by her second husband, left alone to raise two children; and her cranky mother decides to move to town to "help" and begins to fail). I read this in bed one day when I wasn't feeling well; it was perfectly absorbing, and therefore adequate to the purpose (distracting me from my illness), but when it was over I felt a bit let down. It was all too neat.
